District 17 Newsletter con't...

District Meeting (GSR) Meeting will continue rotating to different days, different places. I really think that moving the meeting is working great. We are including everyone who is in our area to be part of the service organization. Please keep up the great attendance and continue to carry the message! By traveling to meetings in the entire district, everyone will get to know each other and so strengthen the fellowship!

Marion H. is going to support the women’s jail meeting and let us know what else they need to continue making the meeting successful. Three cheers for Marion for doing even more service work. Maybe Marion can make a short presentation at the next district meeting on what is going on in the jail and how can we support it. Dennis S. is going to look into putting on a corrections workshop at the upcoming intergroup, anyone interested in helping please contact Dennis. Thanks Denny!

I have invited Dodie A., our Area 74 Area Chair/Alternate Delegate to be part of our Intergroup. She may be tied up in other service work but suggested Torv T., our past Delegate may be willing to put on a mini-service workshop. This is our time to shine in service work in our area, let’s put on a great Intergroup. If anyone is interested in chairing a PI meeting please contact me, for that matter we really need someone in our district to head up a PI committee, anyone interested? Public Information how we get information to the rest of the world, this is part of carrying the message.

The year is off to a great start and there is a real service buzz in the air, or maybe it’s just spring around the corner. I hope everyone is feeling the effects of the changes that are beginning to happen in the district and is enjoying it as much as I am. This is the first winter that I haven’t really been depressed in a long time, I believe it is because I have so much service work to do that I don’t have time to feel sorry for myself. I only feel hope and gratitude for AA this winter! If the little bit of work I have done has produced these results, where will I be next month. Oh yeah, one day at a time! Sometimes I forget! That is what service produces, hope and serenity. Sometimes I also forget that the service structure of AA is not the end result, carrying the message is the primary purpose. God is still doing for me (us) what I (we) cannot do for myself (ourselves).

I want to thank all those who traveled to Randville and shared their thoughts and their time with us. I will see everyone at the next District meeting in Crystal Falls on March 27 at 5:45 at the United Lutheran Church located at 506 Superior St. If anyone needs a ride please call or email me. I will be staying for the meeting afterwards.

I also want to thank the Randville meeting for providing us coffee, treats, and even a birthday cake to enjoy. It was an excellent AA meeting following the district meeting.

Service provides Sobriety, Serenity and Sanity.
