DISTRICT 17 NEWSLETTER

October 28th, 2008

The District monthly GSR meeting was held on Tuesday, October 28th at the District 17 Central Office, located upstairs of the Community Substance Abuse, 373 Woodward Ave. in Kingsford.  It opened with the Serenity Prayer.  In attendance were Cliff W, Bruce L, Kevin, Todd, John, James, Joanne, & Jen J.

2009 Spring Conference: Please note the attached conference sheets compiled by John. The next meeting will be VERY IMPORTANT, since we’ll be coming up with a brochure. There will be a conference planning meeting immediately preceding the district meeting at 6:00 PM. PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND. For more information, call Jennifer 906-396-2668

New Business: Our DCM, Steve S., has resigned. Thanks for all of your hard work, Steve. This means that our alternate DCM, Cliff W., is now the acting DCM for this term through 2009.

Cliff asked for reimbursement for Internet Hosting annual fee of $59.95 (Hostek.com) – Bruce made the motion, and Todd seconded.

Cliff made the following changes in the website meeting list and the 0900 Hotline:

Meetings –

Wednesday VAMC meeting has changed from 8:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Wednesday 5:00 PM - new meeting at Alano Club, Iron Mtn.

Amasa meeting is changed from 7:00 PM Tuesday to Sunday 6:00

There is no longer a Thursday Crystal Falls meeting

Cliff also contacted the Daily News & the probation office to update their lists

Our district has no Public Information committee or Archivist, & we are in need of both. If you are interested in either of these positions, PLEASE come to our next District meeting & we can discuss the responsibilities involved.
