A.A. Area 74, District 17 Corrections Report 4/28/2008

3/27/2008 Typed up letter to Larry T. for an order of material for Camp Ottowa’s Correctional meetings and Iron County Women’s then sent in post.

Took Vikki in for second Women’s meeting and also brought the last two small pocket Big Books as all others are out and about in cell blocks ( next week they may all be back in box which means 200 pounds of books).

3/28/08 Wish to thank the Early Friday Night Group in Kingsford for their donation of two cans of coffee which I have on reserve until needed ( I do appreciate the individual groups support for corrections).

4/3/08 The Early Monday Night A.A. Group at the Chicken church donated three cans of coffee as they had agreed previously last year. So now have three more cans, all five marked A.A. for Dickinson County Corrections.

4/19/08 Held informal corrections meeting at our Intergroup. Note made for two new people for Dickinson Co. both genders which were great to have confirmed, so will have four women and five men. It was discussed how facilities can quickly change their rules and procedures, lots of examples given, but the bottom line is it is their house and we are guests. It is coming to be that all material being brought into facilities be soft covered - am told this change is being implemented across the state. Also, received a check #1383 for $20.50 from our Area 74 Corrections Chairperson Mr. Larry T. for an order of pamphlet material for Camp Ottowa and Iron Co. . Women’s A.A. Thank you Larry from all of us.

4/21/08 Wrote up order form for World Services Inc. and made copies of all checks and orders,

which will be presented at May’s district meeting.

5/6/08 Received order from World Services Inc. All stuff for Camp Ottowa, Iron Co. Women’s, and four small Big Books ordered for Dickinson Women’s Corrections from The Early Sunday Night Candle Light Group, Iron Mt.(marked all for donated from). Picked order from V.A. New Hope Groups for Camp Ottowa, Cliff had all marked - neat!!

5/27/08 Since past entry I showed up for Florence meeting and got turned down first time, then second time they let me in after being assured of whom I was. Our women’ meeting has been a no one wants one the last three times. I got twenty dollars from Early Monday night Group and ordered and received five small pocket Big Books for Women’s corrections. Sent letter to Lt. Price about Dr. Bob and Angie for corrections. So far Bob is okay and will be a sub for men’s. Angie was cleared but then put on hold pending. Bonnie is not going to be doing women’s for a while (medical reasons). Brought a can of coffee to jail two weeks ago, so now have four on reserve. Also, got all the stuff out to Iron River gang.

In closing still looking for anyone wanting to do Iron County Mens’ Correctional AA meeting. Also, now need someone for Dickinson County Women’s AA meetings, as on my list are Camille (who is off for months) and Vikki (who is a sub). Interested Call Me.

Both Dickinson and Florence County Correctional Centers have been most co-operative toward our needs for institutional A.A. meetings. I am most grateful to them.

Respectfully submitted: Dennis S. 906-563-9003
